West Bengal; With the latest update regarding the West Bengal Government’s Annapurna Bhandar Scheme, discussions and concerns among the general public have started increasing. Many people are now eager to know who will be eligible for the benefits of this scheme and who may be excluded.
Recently, through the state government’s public welfare camps being organised at various block levels, direct communication with people is being carried out. During one such camp, the Chief Minister stated that the process of selecting beneficiaries will initially be based on information regarding families who are already connected with various government services and welfare facilities.
It is being reported that women from families where children are studying in government schools, families receiving government services, and families participating in government welfare activities such as child vaccination programmes may be considered on a priority basis for inclusion under this scheme.
It has also been indicated that even if a family has multiple women members, only one woman beneficiary will receive the benefit under a single ration card. In other words, regardless of how many women are listed under the head of a family on a ration card, only one woman from that family may be eligible for the Annapurna Bhandar benefit.
However, while these rules may apply during the initial implementation phase, the beneficiary list may be further verified and finalised through surveys and verification processes in the coming days.
Meanwhile, while the scheme has created hope among many people, concerns are also growing among families who fear being left out. Everyone’s attention is now focused on the government’s upcoming guidelines and the final beneficiary list.
