Punjab Congress Chief Warring Stays Firm Amidst Internal Party Tensions

Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, the President of the Punjab Congress, has made it clear that he has no intention of stepping down from his position, despite facing resistance from certain factions within the party. His statement comes in the wake of several incidents where supporters of former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi have publicly voiced their discontent with Warring during party gatherings.

During a press interaction in Bathinda, Warring emphasized his commitment to the Congress party, declaring that he would continue to strengthen its roots in Punjab even if the leadership decided to replace him. He has held the role since April 2022 and has been instrumental in the party’s performance, leading to victories in seven of the thirteen Lok Sabha seats from Punjab during the 2024 general elections.

Reflecting on his leadership journey, Warring noted, “Reaching the top is significant, yet no one remains at the top indefinitely.” His comments underscore a sense of resilience and dedication to the party’s vision and objectives, indicating that he is prepared to adapt to any changes that might arise in the future.

In response to the internal party dynamics, Bhupesh Baghel, the Congress leader responsible for Punjab affairs, expressed confidence in the unity of the party’s leadership.
