SIT Uncovers 70 Cases of Donation Misappropriation at Ayodhya’s Ram Temple; Delhi High Court Restores CJP’s X Account

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) appointed by the Uttar Pradesh government has revealed alarming findings regarding alleged embezzlement of donations at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The SIT’s investigation uncovered 70 instances where counting staff were reportedly seen concealing bundles of cash and loose notes within their clothing, including pockets and shoes. The detailed report from the SIT, which has been reviewed by various media outlets, indicates that lapses in security protocols during the counting process can be attributed to trustee Anil Mishra, who resigned from his position on Monday following the report’s revelations.

The investigation included a thorough examination of CCTV footage from the counting room, spanning from April 27 to June 5. Despite internal audits conducted by the temple trust recommending the retention of footage for 180 days, the trust allegedly failed to heed these warnings, resulting in the current situation. The SIT has pointed out that both bank transaction records of the implicated individuals and witness testimonies suggest that similar incidents of theft may have occurred in the past, albeit without the benefit of video evidence.

In a related development, the Delhi High Court has ordered the restoration of the X account belonging to the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP). The account, which had been blocked since May 21 due to a legal request, was unblocked after the Union government expressed that it had no objections to its restoration. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta informed the court of the government’s position, highlighting the procedural aspects that led to the account’s initial blockage.
