Purulia: Amid the ongoing teacher recruitment controversy in West Bengal, another tragic incident has come to light. The alleged suicide of a qualified teacher in Purulia district has sent shockwaves through the region. According to her family, she was under severe mental stress due to uncertainty over her job and allegedly consumed an excessive quantity of sleeping pills.
Family members said that only one month remained before the end of her employment. The uncertainty surrounding her career and concerns about the future reportedly pushed her into deep emotional distress. She was found unconscious at her home and rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
The incident has left the local community in mourning. Neighbours described her as a dedicated, talented teacher who was well respected and loved by her students.
The Purulia District Police have launched an investigation and registered a case of unnatural death. Officers are examining medicine containers and other evidence recovered from the scene while also questioning family members and close acquaintances.
