In a pressing call for accountability, the Congress party has urged for a Supreme Court-supervised investigation into the alleged misappropriation of funds intended for the Ram temple in Ayodhya. This demand was articulated on Thursday through a letter addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi by Congress General Secretary K.C. Venugopal’s letter outlined serious concerns that the alleged fraud transcends mere misconduct by isolated employees. The controversy intensified following the SIT’s submission of a preliminary report to the Uttar Pradesh government on June 23. While the specifics of the report remain undisclosed, sources familiar with its contents revealed to The Indian Express that it brought to light various lapses, including poor oversight and negligence regarding the management of donations.
