Massive Rally in Ranjit Singh Nagar: BJP Leaders Say AAP Has Failed on All Fronts
Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha /June 11
A large public meeting organised by Rohit Dhir (Monu) in Maharaja Ranjit Singh Nagar saw the participation of several senior BJP leaders, including former cabinet minister Tikshn Sood. The event, held in Ward No. 22 of Hoshiarpur city, was attended by former mayor Shiv Sood, deputy president Satish Bawa, district secretary Suresh Bhatia “Bittu”, Bindusar Shukla, Sanju Arora, Harbhajan Pal, Surjit Kumar, Anil Thakur, Harish khosla, Kewal Singh and others.
Addressing the gathering, former cabinet minister Tikshn Sood said the rally was called in view of the upcoming municipal corporation elections. He and other BJP leaders sharply criticised the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, claiming it has failed on all fronts and has been rejected by the people of Punjab.
They alleged that promises such as the “Sehat Kranti” and the pledge to establish 16 medical colleges remain unfulfilled, with no new medical college having been built to date. According to Sood, funds that the central government had allocated for a medical college in Hoshiarpur were reclaimed due to alleged administrative failures. He added that those who registered for the touted scheme of free treatment worth Rs 10 lakh are not receiving the promised benefits and have even lost access to Ayushman cards.
The BJP leaders also accused the state government of widespread vacancies in public services, claiming more than 50% of posts for doctors in hospitals and teachers in schools remain unfilled. They alleged a rise in gangsterism across Punjab and accused the police of harassing innocent citizens under the pretext of investigations. They further claimed illegal mining continues with alleged government protection and said drug abuse is ruining the youth, but the government responds only with false publicity.
Sood asserted that most of Hoshiarpur’s development took place under BJP rule and during the tenure of the municipal corporation. He claimed residents have been suffering from a lack of development for the past nine years because the state government has not released funds to the municipal corporation. He accused AAP MLAs of using municipal funds only for foundation stones and inaugurations to mislead the public.
Pointing to the large turnout at BJP events, he expressed confidence that voters would again give the BJP a majority in the forthcoming municipal corporation polls and elect a BJP mayor to realise the party’s urban development agenda.
