According to reports, nearly 800,000 tourist vehicles made their way into Shimla throughout May, with an astonishing 70,000 arriving over the weekend of May 22-24 alone. The influx is largely attributed to a series of heat waves that swept across North India, prompting many to seek respite in the cooler climes of the Himalayas. However, this surge poses a significant challenge to Himachal Pradesh’s infrastructure, as the narrow roads leading to and from Shimla become increasingly gridlocked with both tourists and local traffic.
