Israel to Initiate Talks with Lebanon Amid Rising Casualties from Ongoing Conflict

The focus of these negotiations will primarily be on the disarmament of Hezbollah, the Iranian-backed militant group that has been a focal point of tension between the two nations. Despite a ceasefire agreement between Iran and the United States coming into effect on Wednesday, Israel has claimed that this arrangement does not extend to Lebanon. As reported by the Lebanese health ministry and cited by the Emirati news agency WAM, the death toll from recent Israeli airstrikes has tragically risen to 303. On Wednesday, the Israeli military executed what it described as the largest coordinated aerial assault in Lebanon since the conflict’s escalation. This operation, lasting merely ten minutes, targeted over 100 sites associated with Hezbollah across various regions, including Beirut, Beqaa, and southern Lebanon. The military’s actions reflect its commitment to neutralizing threats it perceives from the Lebanese militant group.
