Dharmendra Pradhan Criticizes Rahul Gandhi for Politicizing Student Protests Amid Parliamentary Disruptions

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has publicly condemned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of exploiting students as political instruments during the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament. This statement follows an incident where Rahul Gandhi, alongside his sister and Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, was detained by the Delhi Police while protesting outside the Prime Minister’s residence. They were released after a few hours.

The demonstration was sparked by the police’s use of force, including lathi charges and tear gas, against protestors during a march organized by a coalition of opposition parties, which criticized the ruling party for its alleged mishandling of competitive examinations. The march demanded Pradhan’s resignation, asserting that the education system is in crisis and reforms are urgently needed.

In a post on social media, Pradhan asserted that the Union government is fully committed to addressing essential issues concerning the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) for medical admissions. He emphasized that the government is keen to engage in constructive dialogue regarding the concerns of students, stressing that they must not be used as mere tools in political standoffs.

The education minister firmly stated, “Students of India deserve better than to be relegated to props in a political struggle. They need certainty over chaos, practical solutions rather than empty slogans, and responsible governance instead of disruption.” Pradhan underlined the need for a responsible approach towards education and the well-being of students, which he believes has been overshadowed by political theatrics.
