RTO Conducts Special Night-time Checks; 11 Vehicles Fined
Hoshiarpur /Daljeet Ajnoha /June 21
Under the direction of Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain, the Regional Transport Office (RTO), led by Regional Transport Officer Amandeep Kaur Ghumman, carried out a special night-time inspection drive across the district to ensure compliance with the Motor Vehicles Act. Intensive checks were conducted on the Mahilpur-Jaijon Road and the Garhshankar-Nangal Road.
Amandeep Kaur Ghuman said the drive resulted in challans being issued to a total of 11 vehicles across various categories. The vehicles were found violating provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, including carrying loads beyond prescribed capacity and transporting goods in excess of permitted limits. She said action would continue against those who flout rules in the interest of road safety.
The RTO emphasized that the transport department’s aim is not merely to issue fines but to raise awareness about traffic rules and prevent road accidents. Overloading and other violations endanger not only drivers but also other road users.
The RTO urged all transporters, vehicle owners and drivers in the district to fully comply with the Motor Vehicles Act and refrain from loading vehicles beyond permitted limits. She added that adherence to rules promotes road safety and helps maintain smooth traffic flow. The RTO warned that such special inspection drives will be carried out regularly in the future and strict action will be taken against violators.
