Delhi Police Interrogates Former Bureaucrat Over Controversial Post About Amit Shah

In a surprising development, former civil servant Ashish Joshi was reportedly questioned by individuals believed to be from the Delhi Police. Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit brought this situation to light, stating that Joshi was taken into custody on Wednesday while out for his morning walk at Nehru Park.

According to Dikshit, police officers in plain clothes approached Joshi and asked him to follow them to the Special Cell police station in New Friends Colony. Joshi’s friend, who accompanied him during the walk, confirmed that the officers indicated the inquiry was linked to an X post that Joshi had made regarding Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Joshi had previously made headlines after alleging a significant disagreement between Amit Shah and Home Secretary Govind Mohan concerning police actions against student protesters at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. He claimed that Mohan was opposed to harsh police measures against the students and noted that junior officers were also hesitant to act severely. This post was, however, later withheld in India, prompting concerns about censorship and the handling of dissenting views in the country.

After spending several hours in questioning, Joshi was released and returned home, assuring his followers on social media that he would provide more details about the incident later. No formal charges have been filed against him, according to Dikshit, who highlighted the need for a broader discussion about the implications of such police actions on individual rights and democratic freedoms.
