Karnataka Minister B Nagendra has tendered his resignation from the state Cabinet, following mounting pressure from the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over serious allegations of financial irregularities linked to the Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribe Development Corporation. The controversy erupted in May 2024 after a tragic incident where an accounts superintendent associated with the corporation died by suicide, leaving behind a note that detailed claims of unauthorized fund transfers.

At the time of the allegations, Nagendra served as the tribal welfare minister, although he was not specifically named in the investigation. His resignation on June 7, 2024, came with a call for a thorough and impartial inquiry into the matter. Notably, Nagendra was reinstated into the Cabinet on August 3, following a leadership change when DK Shivakumar replaced Siddaramaiah as the Chief Minister.
