Prince Animal Welfare Foundation Launches the “Unsung Animal Hero Appreciation Initiative” to Honour Everyday Champions of Animal Welfare

Mumbai, India | July 2026

Every day across Mumbai, countless individuals quietly dedicate their time, compassion, and personal resources to feeding stray animals, rescuing injured animals, arranging medical treatment, providing shelter, facilitating adoptions, and standing against animal cruelty. They do so without expecting recognition or reward, driven by kindness and a commitment to protecting lives that cannot speak for themselves.

Despite their invaluable contribution to society, many of these compassionate individuals often remain unnoticed and, in some cases, face criticism instead of appreciation.

Believing that compassion deserves recognition, Prince Animal Welfare Foundation has announced the launch of the Unsung Animal Hero Appreciation Initiative, a city-wide campaign to identify, recognise, and celebrate everyday heroes who are making a meaningful difference in the lives of animals.

As part of this initiative, members of the public are invited to nominate individuals who have demonstrated exceptional dedication towards animal welfare.

Nominations are open until 15 August 2026.

Every selected nominee will receive an Official Certificate of Appreciation from Prince Animal Welfare Foundation on 15 August in recognition of their contribution. Selected nominees will also become eligible for the Mumbai Animal Hero Award 2026, which will be presented during a special recognition ceremony scheduled for December 2026.

The Foundation believes that recognising acts of compassion not only honours deserving individuals but also inspires more people to participate in animal welfare and community service.

How to Nominate

Members of the public can submit nominations through the official nomination process announced by Prince Animal Welfare Foundation.

Before submitting a nomination, participants are requested to obtain the nominee’s permission to share their personal details and photographs for the purpose of this initiative.

A Movement Beyond Awards

The Unsung Animal Hero Appreciation Initiative is more than an awards programme—it is a movement to build a culture where kindness, compassion, and selfless service are recognised and celebrated.

Through this initiative, Prince Animal Welfare Foundation hopes to encourage communities to acknowledge those who quietly dedicate themselves to protecting vulnerable animals and inspire others to become part of the solution.

The Foundation invites citizens, volunteers, animal lovers, resident associations, educational institutions, veterinary professionals, NGOs, and corporate organisations across Mumbai to participate by nominating deserving individuals and sharing the initiative within their communities.
