Kolkata: Ahead of the annual Rath Yatra festival, the West Bengal Government has announced financial assistance for traditional Rath Yatra committees across the state. According to Nabanna, every recognized traditional Rath Yatra committee will receive a grant of ₹5 lakh.
The state government said the initiative aims to preserve Bengal’s rich cultural and religious heritage while ensuring the smooth organization of one of the state’s most celebrated festivals.
The financial assistance is expected to be used for festival management, security arrangements, lighting, cultural programs, sanitation and other essential services.
Organizers have welcomed the announcement, saying the grant will help them manage rising expenses and conduct the festival more efficiently.
However, sections of the opposition have questioned the allocation of public funds and demanded greater transparency in the selection process.
Preparations for Rath Yatra are already underway across West Bengal, with the administration making elaborate arrangements for crowd management, traffic regulation and public safety…..
