NIA Expands Investigation: Three More Accused Named in Delhi Blast Case

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has added three individuals to its supplementary chargesheet concerning the devastating blast that occurred on November 10 near the iconic Red Fort in Delhi. This update brings the total count of accused individuals in the case to 13. The newly named suspects are identified as Zameer Ahmad Ahanger, Tufail Ahmad Bhat, and Muzafar Ahmad, the latter also known by the aliases Faraz or Zafar.

Reports indicate that Muzafar Ahmad is believed to have played a significant role as a conspirator in the planning and execution of the blast, which tragically resulted in the deaths of at least 11 victims and left many others injured. Initial investigations revealed that a car driven by a doctor named Umar Un Nabi was involved in the explosion, which the Union government promptly classified as a terrorist act just two days after the incident.

In its ongoing investigation, the NIA has pointed out that Muzafar Ahmad was a participant in a secret meeting held at Eidgah in Srinagar back in June 2022. This meeting was pivotal in the formation of Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind Interim, a group that has emerged as a significant militant organization since its inception in 2017, following a split from the Hizbul Mujahideen, the predominant militant group in Kashmir.

The agency has accused Ahmad of being involved in the manufacturing, testing, and storage of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) utilizing triacetone triperoxide at a covert site allegedly operated from Al-Falah University located in Faridabad, Haryana. As a result of these allegations, the NIA has issued a non-bailable warrant for his arrest, indicating the seriousness of his involvement in the case.

The blast has raised security concerns in the national capital and has prompted authorities to intensify their counter-terrorism efforts, particularly in light of the growing influence of organizations like Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind. The investigation continues to unfold as the NIA seeks to gather more evidence and apprehend all individuals linked to this tragic event.
