District Yoga Association Holds 12th International Yoga Day Under the Chairmanship of Tikshn Sood

The District Yoga Association, chaired by its president Sh. Tikshn Sood, celebrated the 12th International Yoga Day at the local Shakti mandir with wide participation from school students and other residents, a press release from the association said. The event was held under the overall patronage of former cabinet minister and senior BJP leader, the senior vice-president of the Indian Yoga Federation.
Established in 2013, the District Yoga Association has been organizing national yoga competitions, annual International Yoga Day events and many other activities since its inception. Association office-bearers and members including Ramdev Yadav, Anil Sood, Neerja Sood, Sanjeev Sharma and Sumit Kumar played an important role in making the Yoga Day programme successful.
Yoga instructors Dr. Pramod Sharma and Mrs. Anita Jaiswal guided participants through yoga exercises. In his address, Tikshn Sood described yoga as an invaluable legacy of Indian history and culture that had been neglected during Mughal and British rule but has been revived through Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts and is now spreading beyond India to the rest of the world.
He said yoga balances the body, mind and soul and helps free people from many ailments. Noting the importance of yoga in contemporary life, he added that police forces, the armed forces, hospitals, schools and many offices have adopted yoga as part of their daily routine. He urged children to practise yoga regularly. He further said that yoga serves as a stepping stone to success in fields such as education, sports, health and competitions.
On the occasion, the District Yoga Association also honoured children who won medals in Punjab-level yoga competitions.
Those present with Mr. Sood included former mayor Shiv Sood, former BJP district president Anand Vir Singh, Vinod Parmar, Archana Jain, Ashok Singla, Sandeep Kumar, Avinash Sood, Navdeep Sood, Anil Sood, Dr. K.K. Parashar, Rakesh Sood, Mrs. Namita Malhotra, Arun Sood, Pramod Sood, Dr. Keshav Sood, Joginder Singh, Ashish Sood and others.
