PM Modi Applauds US-Iran Peace Deal, Emphasizes Importance of Navigation Freedom

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his approval of the recent peace agreement between the United States and Iran, which aims to mitigate ongoing tensions in the West Asia region. The Prime Minister took to social media to highlight the detrimental effects of the prolonged conflict, which has led to significant economic disruptions globally and resulted in countless casualties.

Modi stated, “India hopes that the implementation of this understanding will help restore peace and stability in the region and ensure the freedom of navigation and commerce.” His remarks underscore India’s vested interest in the security of trade routes, particularly the vital Strait of Hormuz, through which a considerable percentage of the world’s oil supply passes.

The announcement of the peace deal comes shortly before a planned meeting in Switzerland, where officials from the US and Iran are expected to formalize the agreement. Iran’s leadership has also indicated that they are prepared to negotiate a comprehensive final deal within 60 days of this interim arrangement.
