In a tragic turn of events in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, a man accused of fatally stabbing a 17-year-old student met his end in an alleged gunfight with police. The incident unfolded in the Khoda area on Thursday, where Asad, a local resident, was wanted for the murder of Surya Chauhan, a Class 11 student who succumbed to his injuries the following day.
The violent altercation reportedly took place during a dispute, leading to the grievous injuries of Chauhan, who was later pronounced dead in the hospital. Following the incident, the police announced a reward of ₹50,000 for any information leading to Asad’s capture, indicating the urgency with which authorities were pursuing the case.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Dhawal Jaiswal, revealed on Sunday that intelligence suggested Asad was meeting with associates to secure funds for his escape. Acting on this tip, police initiated a thorough search operation, erecting checkpoints throughout Indirapuram and Khoda.
When officers attempted to apprehend Asad, who was spotted riding a motorcycle with an accomplice, he allegedly opened fire, prompting the police to return fire. The ensuing exchange resulted in Asad sustaining injuries, leading to his transport to a hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after. A police constable was also reported injured in the confrontation, while the accomplice managed to flee the scene.
In the aftermath, law enforcement recovered a firearm and the motorcycle used by Asad, furthering their investigation into the case. The police have since filed a case against five individuals based on the complaint lodged by Chauhan’s family, underlining the community’s demand for justice in this grim episode.
