Delhi Sees CNG Price Surge Again, Now at Rs 83.09 per Kg

In another blow to commuters in the capital, the price of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) in Delhi has been increased by Rs 2, bringing the new rate to Rs 83.09 per kilogram. This marks the fourth hike in just two weeks, highlighting the rising trend in fuel prices that is affecting many across the region.

Since May 15, the price of CNG has climbed a total of Rs 5 per kg, with earlier increases of Rs 2 on May 15, followed by Re 1 increments on May 17 and May 23. Following the latest adjustment on May 23, CNG prices in neighboring cities such as Noida and Ghaziabad touched Rs 89.70 per kg, while in Gurugram, it was priced at Rs 86.12 per kg, creating a disparity in fuel costs within the National Capital Region.

This surge in CNG prices coincides with broader adjustments in fuel rates that were announced recently, as petrol and diesel prices have also seen an upward revision across the nation. On Monday, these prices were raised by an average of Rs 2.8 per litre. In Delhi, the cost of petrol is now Rs 102.12 per litre, while diesel is pegged at Rs 95.20 per litre. The situation is even more severe in Mumbai, where petrol has reached Rs 111.21 per litre and diesel costs Rs 97.83 per litre.

The price increases are not just limited to the capital and other metropolitan areas; Kolkata has recorded the highest petrol price among the four major cities at Rs 113.51 per litre. Chennai is also witnessing significant rates, with petrol priced at Rs 107.77 per litre and diesel at Rs 99.55 per litre. Such persistent hikes in fuel prices raise concerns among the public regarding inflation and the impact on daily commuting expenses.

As the government continues to revise fuel prices, commuters and vehicle owners alike are left to grapple with the rising costs of transportation.
