I-PAC Director Vinesh Chandel Secures Bail in West Bengal Coal Scam Case

In a significant development, Vinesh Chandel, the director of the Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC), has been granted bail by a Delhi court in connection with a money-laundering investigation tied to an alleged coal smuggling racket in West Bengal. Additional Sessions Judge Amit Bansal from the Patiala House Court ruled that the standard conditions for bail outlined under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act would not apply to Chandel’s case. This decision was influenced by the ED’s failure to present a compelling argument against the bail, despite the serious allegations involved. According to Section 45 of the Act, bail can only be granted if there is a preliminary satisfaction that the suspect has not committed the offence or poses no risk of recidivism.
