Delhi Faces Traffic Chaos Due to Heavy Rains; 3,000 LPG Cylinders Lost in Maharashtra

Delhi and its neighboring regions experienced significant disruptions on Thursday due to persistent heavy rainfall, marking the second consecutive day of severe weather. Reports highlighted extensive waterlogging across various parts of the National Capital Region (NCR), leading to significant traffic congestion on major roads.

One of the most affected areas was the Mehrauli-Badarpur road, where water accumulation made travel nearly impossible. Additional reports indicated that parts of Burari, located in the northern section of Delhi, and NH 24 near the Akshardham temple in the southeast were also grappling with significant waterlogging. The relentless rain caused trees to topple in multiple locations, further exacerbating the situation. In Ghaziabad, residents in areas like Indirapuram and Abhay Khand faced similar challenges, with roads completely submerged after a night of relentless downpour. Noida’s Sector 75 was not spared either, as it too experienced severe flooding.

Meanwhile, Gurugram reported substantial flooding on Wednesday, highlighting the widespread impact of the heavy rains in the region. This weather event has not only disrupted daily commutes but has also posed a threat to local infrastructure, compelling authorities to take swift action to mitigate the effects of the flooding.

In a separate incident related to the heavy rains, about 3,000 liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders were swept away into the Patalganga river in Maharashtra’s Raigad district. This alarming incident occurred at a bottling facility operated by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation, highlighting the severe impact of the flooding and raising concerns over safety and supply issues in the region.

The continuous rainfall has raised alarms among local authorities, who are now monitoring the weather and assessing the situation closely to prevent any further damage. Residents are advised to stay cautious and avoid traveling through flooded areas until the conditions improve.
