US Military Strikes Iran Amid Heightened Tensions in Strait of Hormuz

In a significant escalation of tensions in the Middle East, the United States launched airstrikes against Iran on Wednesday, targeting what it claims are sites linked to recent Iranian attacks on commercial vessels in the strategic Strait of Hormuz. The US military reported that it struck approximately 80 sites associated with the Iranian military, including air defense systems, command and control centers, coastal radar installations, and missile capabilities. In response, the IRGC has accused the US of violating the ceasefire, claiming that they targeted 85 US military positions in Bahrain and Kuwait as a countermeasure. Iranian Parliament Speaker MB Ghalibaf condemned the US strikes, asserting that they undermine the peace agreement in place. These developments come at a time when regional tensions are escalating, drawing concern from various nations.

Qatar, which is mediating discussions aimed at stabilizing the situation, labeled the US actions as an “unacceptable attack” on the safety of maritime navigation and the security of global energy supplies.
