For most professionals, a Curriculum Vitae (CV) is updated only when a new job opportunity appears. Until then, it remains untouched in a folder, slowly becoming outdated.
When an interview finally arrives, many people discover they have forgotten important achievements, completed training programs, successful projects, and valuable contributions made over the years.
But what if we changed the purpose of a CV?
What if a CV was not just a document prepared for recruiters, but a personal roadmap for continuous growth?
I believe every professional should spend just 30 minutes at the end of each month updating their CV—not because they plan to leave their organization, but because they are committed to becoming better than they were the previous month.
This simple habit changes the way we think.
Instead of asking, “When should I update my CV?”, we begin asking, “What have I achieved this month that deserves a place in my CV?”
That single question encourages us to learn a new skill, complete a certification, improve customer service, solve difficult problems, lead projects, accept greater responsibility, and continuously improve ourselves.
This is what I call the Monthly CV Theory.
In this approach, CV represents not only Curriculum Vitae but also Career Vision.
Every monthly update becomes a personal checkpoint. It helps us measure progress, recognize accomplishments, identify learning opportunities, and set the direction for the coming month.
Careers are rarely transformed overnight. They are built through small, consistent actions repeated month after month.
I do not expect everyone to adopt this habit. In reality, most people probably won’t.
However, if even 1% of professionals begin updating their CV every month, I believe their lives and careers will look remarkably different within a few years.
After just one year, they will possess a complete record of their achievements, stronger confidence, clearer career goals, improved interview readiness, and, most importantly, a mindset focused on continuous growth.
They will never have to say, “I forgot what I achieved.”
Your CV should not simply tell the story of your past.
It should shape the vision of your future.
