Opposition Voices Concerns on Electoral Roll Changes to CJI Amidst Political Shifts in Maharashtra

The decision to send this letter to the Chief Justice was made during the INDIA bloc’s meeting on June 8. Interestingly, while the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) were absent from the gathering, they still endorsed the concerns raised in the letter, showcasing a united front among opposition parties. This move coincides with the INDIA bloc’s third anniversary, prompting questions about its trajectory and future direction.

Meanwhile, in Maharashtra, the political landscape is witnessing a notable shift as Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) member Sachin Ahir has filed his nomination for the deputy chairman position in the Maharashtra Legislative Council. His nomination is backed by the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance, which further indicates his allegiance has shifted towards the ruling party. Ahir was seen filing his nomination in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, along with Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar, symbolizing a strategic realignment within the state’s political framework.

In response to this development, Uddhav Sena leader Ambadas Danve announced that MLC Jagannath Abhyankar would represent the Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi as their candidate for the deputy chairman post.
