Hoshiarpur Municipal Corporation nominations to be filed June 22–25; three nomination centres set up, security arrangements ordered

— Nikas Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) and Additional District Election Officer, announced that the State Election Commission, Punjab has declared the general election for Hoshiarpur Municipal Corporation — 2026. In accordance with the schedule, candidates wishing to contest may file their nomination papers from June 22 to June 25, 2026.
Kumar said the returning officers will scrutinise the nomination papers on June 26, and after the withdrawal process concludes on June 27 the final list of eligible candidates remaining in the fray will be released.
Three nomination centres have been established by the returning officers for different wards of Hoshiarpur Municipal Corporation. Candidates from wards 1 to 17 will submit their nomination papers in the courtroom at the SDM Office, Tehsil Complex, Hoshiarpur (near Jail Chowk). Candidates from wards 18 to 31 must file at the office of the Executive Engineer, Construction Division No. 1, Public Works Department (Building & Roads branch), located near the Head Post Office, Civil Lines, Hoshiarpur. For wards 32 to 50, the courtroom on the first floor of the District Development and Panchayat Officer’s office in the District Administrative Complex will serve as the nomination centre.
Additional District Election Officer Nikas Kumar said that adequate security arrangements have been ordered at all designated locations to ensure the nomination process proceeds smoothly and peacefully. He added that voting across the municipal corporation’s 50 wards will take place on Sunday, July 5, 2026, and that the administration is fully committed to conducting a free, transparent and peaceful election.
