A student from Nagpur preparing for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) re-examination faced an unusual predicament when they were initially assigned an exam centre in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. This unexpected allocation sparked concerns among the candidate’s family, prompting them to lodge a formal complaint with the National Testing Agency (NTA), the body responsible for conducting the examination.
After receiving the grievance, the NTA took prompt action, assuring the family that the situation would be rectified. In a statement, the agency confirmed that the candidate would be reassigned to a test centre in Nagpur within a few hours. This development underlines the NTA’s commitment to ensuring that no candidate is disadvantaged due to administrative errors or confusion regarding examination centres.
The NTA further clarified that their records indicated the original selection of Abu Dhabi was made through the candidate’s registered account during a correction window, which was activated following the rescheduling of the NEET (UG) 2026 exam to June 21. The agency revealed that there were instances where the allocation to Abu Dhabi was previewed via the candidate’s account prior to the complaint being raised.
In light of these findings, the NTA reached out to the candidate’s father to finalize the necessary formalities and facilitate the change of centre. Their statement emphasized that the agency’s primary goal is to ensure that all candidates can sit for the examination without any administrative hurdles.
This incident has brought to light the importance of communication and clarity regarding exam logistics, especially for high-stakes tests like NEET. As students across the country prepare for this critical examination, the NTA’s swift response serves as a reminder of the challenges candidates and their families may face in the backdrop of a high-pressure academic environment.
