CBSE Leadership Changes Amid Class 12 Evaluation Controversy

In a significant administrative shake-up, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has transferred its chairman, Rahul Singh, and secretary, Himanshu Gupta. This decision comes in the wake of serious allegations regarding mismanagement in the marking system for the Class 12 board examinations. Reports from the Press Trust of India (PTI) indicate growing concerns over irregularities in the evaluation process that have affected numerous students.

To address these issues, the CBSE has established a one-member inquiry committee led by S. Radha Chauhan, who heads the Capacity Building Commission. The committee is tasked with investigating the procurement process of the On-Screen Marking Services utilized by the board. This initiative aims to ensure accountability and transparency within the organization. The committee has been instructed to deliver its findings to the Department of Personnel and Training within the next month, as reported by the Asian News International (ANI).

In recent weeks, students have raised alarm over discrepancies related to the On-Screen Marking system, which has been met with criticism for its handling of answer sheets. Several individuals reported that the scanned copies of their answer sheets uploaded by the CBSE did not correspond with their actual handwriting. Such mismatches have led to suspicions of administrative oversight, prompting students to seek re-evaluations of their results.

Moreover, the process for re-evaluation has been marred by technical issues, with students experiencing portal outages, delays in payment confirmations, and in some instances, being charged additional fees due to system errors. This has further exacerbated the frustration felt by students and their families, as they navigate the uncertainties surrounding their academic futures.
