Bar Council Takes Action Against Advocate in Madhya Pradesh Dowry Death Case

The Bar Council of India has promptly suspended advocate Samarth Singh from practicing law, following the tragic death of his wife, Twisha Sharma, under disturbing circumstances. This decision came just days after Sharma was found dead at the couple’s residence in Bhopal’s Katara Hills area on May 12. She was a 33-year-old model and actress from Noida, and her demise has raised serious concerns regarding dowry harassment.

While Singh’s family claims that Sharma committed suicide, her relatives assert that she was subjected to constant dowry demands and ultimately murdered. In the wake of these allegations, Singh has been on the run for over a week. However, on Friday, he chose to withdraw an anticipatory bail petition he had filed at the Madhya Pradesh High Court and turned himself in to authorities in Jabalpur. Following his surrender, he was promptly arrested by the Bhopal Police.

The Bar Council’s decision to suspend Singh was based on the severity of the allegations against him, which were described as “grave” and damaging to the reputation of the legal profession. In an interim order, the council emphasized its responsibility to uphold the integrity of the legal field and to ensure that the behavior of advocates does not undermine public trust.
