Chargesheet Filed Against Five in Shocking Indian Human Trafficking Case Linked to Cyber Slavery in Cambodia

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken a significant step in combatting human trafficking by filing a chargesheet against five individuals accused of luring young Indians into cyber slavery in Cambodia. This case involves a complex web of deceit, where potential victims were promised legitimate job opportunities but instead found themselves trapped in a dire situation.

On Friday, the NIA presented its charges in a special court in Patna, citing violations of various sections of the Indian Penal Code. The agency’s investigation revealed that the accused were part of an organized trafficking syndicate that targeted youth across India, enticing them with promises of attractive salaries and respectable employment. Tragically, upon reaching Cambodia, these individuals had their passports confiscated, rendering them vulnerable and unable to escape their dire circumstances.

The NIA’s statement detailed that the victims were forced to work in fraudulent companies engaged in cyber scams. Those who attempted to resist were subjected to severe forms of torture, including electric shocks, physical confinement, and deprivation of basic necessities such as food and water. This harrowing treatment highlights the depths of exploitation faced by those lured into this trafficking network.

Central to the trafficking operation is Anand Kumar Singh, also known as Munna Singh, who is regarded as the mastermind behind this syndicate. The NIA claims that Singh collaborated with associates in Cambodia to recruit victims through a network of sub-agents and travel agents in India. Reports indicate that he charged between $2,000 and $3,000 for each individual he trafficked to these fraudulent companies. Despite efforts to apprehend him, Singh is currently on the run.

In addition to Singh, the chargesheet also implicates three other individuals: Abhay Nath Dubey and Rohit Yadav, both from Uttar Pradesh, and Abhiranjan Kumar. Their involvement in this heinous crime underscores the alarming issue of human trafficking for cyber slavery, which has become a growing concern in recent years. As authorities intensify their efforts to dismantle such trafficking networks, this case serves as a stark reminder of the need for heightened vigilance and protective measures for those seeking employment abroad.
