BJP Unveils Promises for Women in Tamil Nadu Ahead of Assembly Elections

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has unveiled a series of ambitious promises aimed at empowering women in Tamil Nadu as part of its manifesto for the upcoming Assembly elections. The party announced that it would provide a monthly financial support of Rs 2,000 to women heads of households, alongside three free liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders each year. These proposals are part of the BJP’s strategy to appeal to female voters ahead of the crucial elections scheduled for April 23.

In addition to these measures, the BJP has pledged a one-time subsidy of Rs 25,000 for women looking to purchase e-scooters, as well as a concession of 3% on stamp duty for first-time female homebuyers. The party is also proposing a household assistance program that would offer a one-time payment of Rs 10,000 to eligible families. Furthermore, the BJP aims to enhance the existing benefits under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme by introducing an additional Rs 3,000 alongside the current support of Rs 6,000 for farmers.

The manifesto was launched by Union Minister JP Nadda, who did not shy away from criticizing the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), accusing them of corruption and nepotism. He claimed that numerous DMK leaders have been implicated in cash-for-job scandals and tender irregularities, asserting that such practices undermine transparency and governance in the state.

As the political landscape heats up, the DMK had previously unveiled its own manifesto on March 29, promising to double the monthly assistance provided to women under the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai scheme to Rs 2,000. This direct competition between the BJP and DMK highlights the importance of women’s issues in the electoral narrative, as both parties strive to capture the significant female voter base in the state.

The upcoming elections are poised to be a battleground for various political ideologies and promises, with both the BJP and DMK presenting their visions for a better Tamil Nadu. With the vote counting scheduled for May 4, the stakes have never been higher, as each party seeks to secure its place in the Assembly and potentially shape the future of the state.
