Gujarat High Court Denies Asaram Bapu’s Bail Request in Rape Case

The Gujarat High Court has turned down a temporary bail application from Asumal Harpalani, commonly known as Asaram Bapu, who is currently serving a life sentence for a 2013 rape conviction. The court’s decision came on Tuesday, reiterating its stance on the serious nature of the charges against the 85-year-old religious leader.

Asaram was found guilty by a sessions court in Gandhinagar for the rape of a minor at his ashram, an incident that reportedly took place between 2001 and 2006.
