Tragedy Strikes in Delhi: Building Collapse in Satya Niketan Leaves Many Trapped

In a devastating incident in Delhi’s Satya Niketan area, a five-storey residential building collapsed on Sunday, leaving several individuals feared trapped under the rubble. Local news agencies reported that the emergency services are currently engaged in rescue operations, with initial estimates suggesting that between 30 to 50 students could be stuck beneath the debris.

According to Balraj Singh, the nodal officer for central accident and trauma services, five individuals were promptly transported to the trauma center at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) following the collapse. Singh indicated that the medical condition of these victims remains unclear, stating that further updates would be provided by the hospital.

The incident was reported to emergency services around 1:34 PM, when a distress call alerted authorities to the situation near the Nanakpura Gurdwara. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (South West), Amit Goel, confirmed that the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has arrived on-site to assist with the unfolding rescue efforts. In addition to personnel from the NDRF, at least eight fire engines have been deployed, and heavy machinery is being utilized to clear away the debris.

Videos circulating on social media depict frantic rescue efforts, with emergency responders joined by local residents working tirelessly in an attempt to locate and extricate those trapped.
