In a significant development for music lovers, the Delhi Police has finally granted permission for popular singer Diljit Dosanjh’s much-anticipated concert at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, scheduled for October 30. This announcement comes after a brief period of uncertainty following initial concerns regarding security and potential threats related to the event during the festive season.
Just a day prior to receiving the green light, the police had denied clearance based on intelligence inputs suggesting possible security risks. With Diwali, one of India’s most celebrated festivals, fast approaching on November 8, authorities expressed apprehension about crowd management and safety measures. However, following discussions with the event’s organisers, the situation has taken a positive turn.
BookMyShow, the ticketing partner for the concert, clarified that there was a misunderstanding concerning the event’s status. Reports suggesting that the concert had been cancelled were incorrect. Instead, the permission had been temporarily withheld while additional security protocols were put into place. The platform emphasized that the distinction between withholding permission and outright cancellation should be made clear.
Following a constructive meeting with the Delhi Police, BookMyShow presented a comprehensive safety and traffic management plan, which was well-received by the authorities. The police have stipulated that the concert’s organisers must adhere strictly to these security measures to ensure the safety of attendees. With the new assurances in place, police have reconsidered their earlier stance and granted the necessary clearance.
This concert is part of Diljit Dosanjh’s Aura India Tour, which continues to attract fans across the country. After Delhi, the singer is set to perform in several major cities, including Indore, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Lucknow, and Chandigarh throughout November and December. Fans can now breathe a sigh of relief as preparations for the concert in the capital continue.
