In a startling turn of events, multiple locations across Delhi, including the Delhi High Court and Terminal 3 at Indira Gandhi International Airport, received bomb threats on Friday, just a day before the nation prepares to celebrate its Independence Day. The alarming threats have raised significant concerns regarding security in the capital.
The Delhi High Court reported receiving an email that ominously stated, “Bomb Blast Delhi High Court @ 2:11PM.” The email warned of a potential explosion in the High Court premises scheduled for 2:11 PM on Saturday, followed by subsequent blasts at district courts in the city at 3:11 PM. This has understandably heightened anxiety among citizens and officials alike.
In addition to the High Court, other sites that were targeted with threats included Jamnagar House, the Jhandewalan Flatted Factory Complex, the district magistrate’s office in Saket, and the sub-divisional magistrate’s office in Delhi Cantonment. As per reports from the Delhi Fire Services, a comprehensive search operation was initiated, involving police forces, bomb disposal teams, fire department units, and dog squads. Despite the heightened alerts and thorough investigations, no suspicious items or evidence have been uncovered thus far.
The timing of these threats is particularly unsettling as security measures have been significantly intensified across Delhi in anticipation of the Independence Day celebrations on August 15. Authorities are on high alert, ensuring that safety protocols are strictly followed to prevent any untoward incidents during this crucial national holiday.
The incident serves as a reminder of the ongoing challenges faced by security agencies in maintaining safety in urban environments, especially during significant national events. It underscores the importance of public vigilance and cooperation with law enforcement agencies, as they strive to ensure the safety of all citizens.
