In a remarkable turn of events, Congress candidate Motab Shaikh secured victory in the Farakka Assembly constituency of West Bengal, defeating his closest rival, Sudhir Chowdhuri from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), by a substantial margin of over 8,000 votes.
