In a significant development, three individuals have been apprehended in relation to a petrol bomb attack on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) office located in Ranchi. The police have invoked the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) in this case, which highlights the seriousness of the incident. The investigation has now been handed over to the Jharkhand Anti-Terrorism Squad (JATS) for further probing.
The incident occurred shortly after midnight on a Saturday, when two assailants reportedly threw petrol bombs at the RSS office situated in the Nivaranpur area of Ranchi. According to reports from the Ranchi Police, one of the incendiary devices landed on the roof of the office, igniting a fire, while the second bomb fell near the entrance but fortunately failed to ignite.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT), established under the guidance of senior police officials, has been working diligently to track down the suspects. Utilizing CCTV footage and technical surveillance, the team successfully identified the alleged perpetrators. The arrested individuals, Saif Ansari and Aman Ansari—who is also known as Golu—were apprehended near the Gajhandi railway station in Koderma while allegedly attempting to escape to another state. A third suspect, 21-year-old Sayam Sujan, was arrested based on information gathered during the interrogation of the initial two suspects.
In a bizarre turn of events, one of the accused, Saif Ansari, managed to escape from police custody at the Kotwali police station around 11:30 AM after reportedly breaking through a toilet ventilation grill and a glass panel. However, he was later intercepted during a vehicle check, as police ramped up security measures in response to the attack.
This incident has raised significant concerns regarding safety and security in the region, particularly given the political context surrounding the RSS, a prominent Hindu nationalist organization. The use of petrol bombs in such an attack underscores the escalating tensions in the area. As investigations continue, the police are urging the public to provide any information that could assist in ensuring justice and maintaining peace.
