MK Stalin, the chief of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), has expressed skepticism about the longevity of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government, led by actor-turned-politician Vijay, suggesting that it may struggle to last beyond three months. His comments came during a recent gathering where former MLA Panaiyur Babu and his supporters officially joined the DMK.
Stalin noted that upon the formation of the new government, he had refrained from criticizing it for an initial period of six months. However, he indicated that the prevailing political climate might necessitate an earlier critique. “There is growing concern among the public, and I am hearing increasing voices of discontent regarding the current administration,” he said, hinting at a potential shift in public sentiment.
This declaration follows Stalin’s earlier assertion that his party had permitted its allies to endorse the TVK government with the primary goal of averting the imposition of president’s rule in Tamil Nadu. He emphasized that he had supported this decision out of a belief that president’s rule could lead to the BJP gaining a stronger foothold in the state. “We must now prepare ourselves to work towards dismantling the TVK government,” he added, further solidifying his stance against the current regime.
Stalin’s remarks come at a time when political tensions are high in Tamil Nadu. The state’s political landscape has seen significant shifts in recent years, with alliances changing frequently and new parties emerging. The DMK, having previously held power, is keenly observing the steps of the TVK government, which has a unique mix of celebrity influence and political aspirations.
As the political scenario unfolds, the DMK is poised to leverage any dissatisfaction among the electorate towards the TVK to regain its influence in the state. With the clock ticking on Stalin’s six-month promise, all eyes are now on how the TVK administration manages its governance amidst rising public scrutiny and political maneuvering.
