Prohibitory Measures Enforced in Ghazipur Following Tragic Death of Teen Girl

In response to the tragic death of a 17-year-old girl in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, local authorities have implemented prohibitory orders prohibiting any demonstrations related to the incident until April 30. The girl, who was reported missing on the night of April 14, was discovered the following morning in the Ganga River, approximately three kilometers from her home.

The girl’s family has alleged that she was the victim of a sexual assault and murder, raising serious concerns about safety and justice in the region. As details surrounding the case emerge, the Varanasi Zone Additional Director General of Police, Piyush Mordia, has confirmed the investigation is underway.

In light of these events, the Opposition party, Samajwadi Party, has announced plans for a delegation led by its president, Akhilesh Yadav, to visit the girl’s village and meet her family. This visit is scheduled for Wednesday, following a previous attempt by the party that faced violent resistance, according to reports. Yadav has criticized the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government for allegedly pressuring the victim’s family to modify their statements regarding the circumstances of their daughter’s death.

Yadav expressed his outrage over social media, describing the current Chief Minister as the weakest in the state’s history, accusing the administration of manipulating facts and undermining the plight of vulnerable families. He also raised pertinent questions regarding the delay in registering the First Information Report (FIR) and the apparent inconsistencies in testimonies being presented.
