Lok Sabha Inquiry Finds Former Judge Yashwant Varma Responsible for Unaccounted Cash Controversy

The three-member inquiry panel concluded that bundles of Rs 500 notes were discovered at Varma’s residence in Delhi, and he provided misleading explanations regarding their origins. The investigation was triggered by an incident on March 14, 2025, when emergency services were called to Varma’s official residence due to a fire. However, the panel’s findings contradict his assertions, stating Varma failed to adequately explain the source or ownership of the cash.

Moreover, the report highlighted the troubling fact that the cash, after being discovered, was neither secured nor preserved, leading to its subsequent disappearance.
