Notably, India had the highest deportation figures back in 2020 with 1,424 deported individuals, but it fell to second place until now, with numbers steadily climbing over the subsequent years.

The escalation in deportations is concerning, especially when one considers the breakdown of the statistics over recent years. In 2021, only 603 Indian citizens were removed, which later climbed to 786 in 2022, followed by increases to 1,132 in 2023 and 2,004 in 2024. The ongoing trend suggests that the Canadian immigration authorities are actively addressing violations of immigration regulations from Indian nationals, including non-compliance with visa terms, rejected asylum claims, overstayed visas, and involvement in visa fraud activities.
