Punjab Minister Sanjeev Arora in ED Custody over Alleged Money Laundering Scheme

The purported plan involved the export of these items to facilitate the round-tripping of illicit funds from Dubai back to India. Authorities have claimed that Arora’s operations relied on fraudulent GST invoices sourced from non-existent firms, enabling the claim of false input tax credits, GST refunds, and duty drawbacks.

After his arrest, Arora was presented before a special court that oversees cases under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). While the ED had requested an extended ten-day custody for further questioning, the court ultimately granted a seven-day remand.
