He claimed that the local populace, which includes a small Muslim demographic of around 500 to 1,000 individuals among the 15,000 residents, supported the modification.

Another incident in the same district involved BJP activists allegedly pressuring the owner of a biryani shop near a local temple to relocate his business. A video surfaced on social media showing a person waving a BJP flag while voicing the demand. This incident has raised concerns about the growing influence of the BJP in a region traditionally dominated by the Trinamool Congress, and the potential for communal tensions as a result.
