The 78-year-old politician has had a remarkable political career, having served over eight years as chief minister across two non-consecutive terms. His first term lasted from 2013 to 2018, and he resumed office in May 2023 after the Congress party’s electoral victory over the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
