Assam Assembly Debates Uniform Civil Code Bill, Aims for Equality in Personal Laws

The Assam government has taken a significant step toward reforming personal laws by introducing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) Bill in the state Assembly. On Monday, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Atul Bora presented the proposed legislation, which aims to standardize laws governing marriage, divorce, succession, and adoption across all citizens, irrespective of their religious affiliations.
