YSRCP Media Secretary Arrested Over Alleged Inflammatory Social Media Posts Targeting CM Naidu

The Andhra Pradesh Police detained Pudi Srihari, the Media General Secretary of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP), on Wednesday following the circulation of social media posts that allegedly contained inflammatory language and violent imagery regarding Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. The police stated that these posts posed a threat to public order, prompting action against Srihari.

According to reports, the police maintained that Srihari’s online content was not only provocative but could also incite unrest among the populace. The YSR Congress Party swiftly condemned the arrest, labeling it as an unlawful act and a direct attack on democratic freedoms. Tirupati MP M Gurumoorthy, in a social media statement, raised concerns over the police’s actions, claiming they had confiscated Srihari’s mobile phones and laptop during the arrest without due process.

In response to the incident, the police confirmed the seizure of Srihari’s electronic devices and announced that he would be presented before a court shortly. This development has intensified the ongoing tensions between the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the opposition YSRCP in Andhra Pradesh. Gurumoorthy further accused the TDP of undermining democracy by manipulating legal frameworks to target YSRCP leaders, describing the tactics as part of a “red book constitution” aimed at suppressing opposition.

The YSR Congress Party has expressed its determination to seek judicial intervention to challenge what it perceives as unjust treatment of its members. The party’s leaders are rallying support to expose what they call the undemocratic practices of the ruling coalition, vowing to fight for justice and restore civil rights in the state.
